Simulations
Although the word ‘simulation’ has many definitions, a common thematic element is learning through experience. While still a game, simulations are more elaborate and involved, placing participants in roles in virtual environments where they gain experience and learn by solving problems and making decisions.
Depending on the length, nature, scope and complexity of the simulation, expert facilitation at multiple points helps participants translate their experiences and apply their learning more quickly. We call that Transforming Learning Into Action®!
Because research demonstrates that hands-on, as well as “heads-on” learning are required to improve skills or knowledge, The Learning Key builds simulations into many of our training programs. As a matter of fact, in addition to our programs, some are sold for use by independent or corporate trainers.
Benefits of game-based learning and simulations:
- University research has shown that our board games provide the best retention and positive response of any learning approach
- They build spirit and cooperation when played in teams
- They reduce dependence on an expert; the players are the teachers
- They provide customized, focused learning in a memorable way
