The Learning Key® Creates The PHARM Game® 2
March/April 2008 - American Pharmaceutical Outsourcing

For eighteen years, The Learning Key, Inc. has partnered with the pharmaceutical industry and other organizations providing them with services and products to help employees maintain a keen awareness of changing industries, environments and regulations. The Learning Key® developed The PHARM Game® -- an often used learning tool, highly regarded by top industry leaders. The game was created by Dr. Elizabeth Treher, CEO and President of The Learning Key®.

The PHARM Game® was developed in response to concerns expressed by several of our pharmaceutical clients. Our clients saw that most of their employees have little understanding of the business of drug discovery and development, beyond their own jobs. Many can not even explain to a neighbor the legitimate reasons for the high cost to fill a prescription. The game is both an effective and fun way of reducing this knowledge gap and it is easily customized to incorporate language, processes, and company specific approaches.

The PHARM Game® 2 was created for those who want to make game play as linear as possible, so they can answer questions about a subject when that subject appears in the drug development process. The game was designed to link the cards directly to specific topics on the board by color. The board is visually simplified and somewhat smaller (36" x 36"). The size of the question cards and holders are smaller and index tabs now separate the question topics. We have added additional categories of questions; they are: Biologics, Discovery, Nonclinical/preclinical, Chemical process/manufacturing, Clinical, Computer systems, General/history/business environment, Regulatory, and Sales and Marketing. The original game is still being purchased and used and there are no plans to discontinue its manufacture.
