Where learning is key
Washington Crossing firm translates knowledge into power for small businesses.
September 8, 2005
"We're a company that basically helps organizations convert learning into action," Treher said recently in her Washington Crossing office. "We do instructional design, we develop training, we do consulting to help groups become more effective or to figure out what kinds of skills their employees need, how are they going to go about developing them, and long-term strategic training plans."
The Learning Key has been around for 15 years, but has just recently started to put together a regional business alliance to help smaller firms afford the company's services.

"Oftentimes the smaller organization doesn't have the resources or the staff to warrant doing a lot of training or development for their employees and it's really a competitive advantage to provide training," Treher said. "So the regional business alliance will be a membership organization so that smaller companies, not just large ones, can have access to really high quality development opportunities for their employees."
The regional business alliance will provide training on site in the Learning Key's training facility.
"The alliance is basically a membership-driven resource so that small businesses in this area -- Bucks County, Mercer County -- this local area within driving distance of the Learning Key -- can send employees," Treher said. "Say they have three employees that need management skills or leadership skills, supervisory skills, it doesn't pay for that company to bring in a training program to their organization for three people.
"So I see that and I see the regional business alliance growing as more companies become aware of it and participate," Treher added. |
