In order to effectively manage technical groups, don’t forget to:
Remember expectations and measures of success are critical factors in the health of all technical organizations.
To do this, ask yourself:
- When working with technical functions do I understand that managing resources, problem solving, and people each take different skills and focus and what those differences are?
- Do I know that my skills used in resource space make me more effective in allocating and controlling resources in ways that ensure an adequate return on corporate investment?
- Do I know that two important characteristics of delegating are the level of autonomy and the types of activities to assigned?
