BUILDING INFLUENCE AND NEGOTIATION SKILLS: INFLUENTIAL WORKER
To become an influential worker, don’t forget: The worker who is effective at creating an appreciative environment increases his or her realm of influence.
To do this, ask yourself:
- Do I realize that in any organization there are things that I am unable to change, existing for reasons beyond my control? If I am able to accept these circumstances, finding the good in things, I will be successful in influencing others.
- Am I able to influence others by making things happen without them feeling as if they were coerced? If so, I am in the best position to influence others.
- Am I creating an appreciative work environment by offering ideas, sharing information, supporting others, clarifying my personal position, and encouraging others to generate their own ideas?
